We pulled in the parking lot and within a minute a wonderful man pulls up in a golf cart asking if we wanted a ride to the ticket booth. We decided to drive 40 minutes north up I-81 to Bryce Ski Resort. We arrived at Massanutten and was totally disappointed with the customer service we received (see complete review under Massanutten Ski Resort). We originally planned to go to Massanutten for 2 reasons.closer to our home and they have an indoor water park (see seperate review of water park). My children and I had never skiied before so we thought it was time to try. The resort is located way out in the middle of "nowhere", but rest assured it is worth the drive for a day of fun in the snow. We heard from staff that the weekends are much busier and more crowded than the day we visited. But if you like being around families with children it's a great place to try. If you are an experienced skier you might not like this location because it is small and the facilities are dated. Their group was large (8-10 children) and very organized. There was a kinder ski class and the three young ladies teaching the 3-5 year olds had everything under control. There were lots of families with young children (infants, toddlers, elementary, etc.), large extended families, and local groups the day we attended (New Year's Eve) and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun. It was a very cold day (23 degrees) and the snow was man-made, but we had a lot of fun. John, the instructor, was kind, patient and very good at teaching the beginner's class. Rates were reasonable ($84 each for 1 1/2 hours group lesson with equipment and unlimited access to beginner's area). We signed up for the beginner's ski class and had a very good experience. We are a fmaily of four from Florida who have never snow skied before. We found Bryce Ski Resort online while visiting family in Virginia. But who would compensate us for our lost time, for mileage, and for my son’s ruined birthday?!!!!!!!! Oh, yes, they told me if we come back at the weekend, we can get their weekly rate. People come from hours away and how could they do this to someone? Horrible place. However, they decided to cancel the last minute. When I called, they were still planning to have a snow tubing session that evening. They have a schedule on their website listing their sessions one week in advance. If they do not get enough people, they just cancel a session. What was I supposed to say to my 4- year-old son who came to celebrate his birthday? This was supposed to be the only session that day. When we got there, they told us that the snow tubing session was canceled. I called in advance to make sure they had a snow tubing session. My family came to celebrate my son’s 4th birthday. Snow Tubing sessions at Bryce Resort last an hour and fifty minutes and prices vary depending on the day of the week and whether you have already purchased a lift ticket. My family and I will never ever go to this resort again. Ski boots are not allowed for safety reasons. Hiking boots or snow boots are also best for footwear. Want to go Snow Tubing at Bryce Resort VA? Be sure to wear warm clothing waterproof is best.
